A research study
examining Geography
students’ perspectives on
improving the transition
from school to university
Welcome to the University transitions: Geography students’ perspectives on improving the transition from school to university research project. The aim of this project is to use the experiences of current undergraduate Geography students to identify and disseminate ways to improve the transition from school to university for local students. It also aims to identify ways to increase the number of applications from local students to study for a Geography degree, particularly where these students come backgrounds with traditionally low rates of participation in higher education.
This project is funded through the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES).
The following pages will introduce you to the project and update you on progress throughout, including research outputs as well as Geography students' experiences of their transitions and experiences.
